It's puzzling to me, watching all the media, report Republicans blaming our ills on Obama's Socialist agenda that they don't even read their own right wing news sources, like Time Magazine, who in March ranked the world's nations according to a prosperity index, which judges quality of life or standard of living.

But I digress. The "I've-got-mine-laissez-faire current economic Republican model has given us an obstructionist Congress that refuses to help the middle class or the poor. Let them eat cake, house leader John Bohner eshews.
This I've got mine attitude is selfish and unethical and no one supporting it can call themselves "Christian". Socialism works. It's a more focused practice that demonstrates the benefits for all the citizens of a nation involved. It fulfills the Christian ideal of providing our more unfortunate citizens, the elderly and the poor, with a reasonable, minimal standard of living.
The Democrats know the Me,My Wall Streeter types, is an economic model that fails and only reflects the chosen few in the U.S. Congress who will ignore any bill favorable to the middle class. It is also a puzzle as to why the Republicans, some who are part of the Occupy Wall Street movement, voted these wing nuts into Congress in the first place. One answer could be they are owned, their campaigns financed, by Corporate America.
Our lower and middle class have been injured by this Congress. And the ominous title of the Time article "Are America's Best Days Behind Us?" may prove to be true if Americans don't unite and vote against every Republican in both the Senate and the House come November 2012.
Yes Vic, SOCIALISM does work in those countries that do not want to be like the United States of America. Those countries that have incorporated SOCIALISM for their citizens do not have a GDP as high as the GDP that is found in the USA. Those countries do not have a strong mililtary in all areas: Navy, Army, Marines, Airforce, Coast Guard, and National Guard. Thos countries do not have a strong internal Law Enforcement program that includes City, State, and County police as well as FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, NIA, and those agencies that are covert in their nature. Those countries that embrace SOCIALISM do not have the University and College Systems that are available in the USA that citizens from all over the world come to for Educational Excellence. Those countries that embrace SOCIALISM do not have the enormous small business structure and entrepreneurial efforts that we have in the USA and do not have the creativity nor do they have the innovations in technology that we have in the USA. Those counntries that incorporate and embrace SOCIALISM do not have the level of professional sports that we see and experience here nor do they have the kinds of celebrity status that we offer to our actors, musicians, and artists of all fields. In fact, if you look into China which has its own brand of Socialism, anything with the words blog or blogspot in the URL is blocked from the public which my daughter, who currently lives in China, informed me when I asked her to visit our blog. Those countries that have incorporated SOCIALISM do not have the advances in Agriculture, Technology, Science, and Aerospace that we have here in the USA.
What SOCIALISTIC countries have done is provide a ton of benefits for their citizens and on this point I do not disagree and I believe that this is an appropriate way to go, if in fact, one does not want to live in a country like the USA for the rest of one's life, which I do.
Can we say for sure, that SOCIALISM would not work in the USA. No, we cannot because it has never been tried here... However, SOCIALISM is like the following scenario:
Let's take points away from the "A" and "B" students in a classroom of "LIFE" and give those points to the "D" and "F" students so that everyone receives a "C"... Now, tell me how long you think it will take for the "A" and "B" students to stop being "A" and "B" students? Then, tell me how long it will take or if there will be any change at all in our "D" and "F" students?
It is for this reason and this reason alone that the USA should not follow the example of other SOCIALISTIC countries in the world unless the MAJORITY (as is their right in a Democratic Republic) want to give up or take a chance of giving up all of THAT which has been accomplished in the USA.
But, this is only my opinion... and, opinions are like rearends, everyone has got one.
Alex,
The point in the Time magazine article was to compare countries and how they treat their population. It wasn't about the US giving up football, God forbid. HOW DOES AMERICA TREAT ITS' ELDERLY ALEX, COMPARED TO DENMARK? Get it???
