What Do Americans Want?
by Alex HutchinsTo me, after living 3 score plus some, it seems what most Americans want is:
The ability to say what they want to, when they want to, to whom they want to without having to defend physically or mentally the right to be able to have that freedom.
The Federal Government to take care of them financially, medically, educationally, and nutritionally regardless of the present or future costs and regardless of any unintended consequences.
The rest of the world to pay attention to the United States and do what we say when we say it, regardless of whether or not we follow our own advice.
The ability to pretend and pay lip service to the institutions of our faith while consistency maintaining a divorce rate for first time marriages of 50%.
To be able to continue to pay for illegal drugs and illegal porn while voting for those who take a stand against it.
To be able to abort pregnancy at our individual discretion without government intervention but with government financial support.
To be able to purchase firearms whenever and wherever and for all laws to support our home (including our vehicle) is our castle that we can protect with those firearms.
To have the wealthy to pay for our mistakes and be able to impose of them financially no matter how much money they are able to generate.
To be able to trust the people to whom we give our money not to lose any of the money we give them while at the same time expecting them to invest it in moderate to high risk investments. To be able to earn a paycheck even though the amount of money we expect collectively could prevent our employers from being able to compete and stay in business.
To be able to have a safe and sound and secure future even though we are unwilling to take the math, science, engineering, and technology course that will provide us knowledge for the future.
To be able not to have to conserve on gasoline because of increased prices even though the money we give other countries will be used to economically defeat us.
To be able to ignore terrorism unless it happens on US soil.
To be able to have the rest of the world see us as superior.

I believe "trust the crooks" is the words you may be looking for here. How 'bout bailing out the banks who soaked up all the 401k money. Why did the government give them welfare to continue to rape the common middle class worker? I'm poor. Where's my bailout?
There are some who feel like you do, but since 90% of the workforce is working then most Americans easily forget. Several people that I have talked to both my age and 10-20 years younger, realize that they are simply going to have to work longer than they had originally anticipated. They see life happening like water over the dam and it is gone - now, it is time to pick ourselves up and move on...
Some of us can do that easier than others and therein lies the rub.
But, like the sign says, it is my right to be a stupid voter.
