With this ring . . .
by Alex Hutchins
Homosexuality is a manifestation (example: avatar is a manifestation of God in Hinduism) of sexual desire or activity towards a member of the same sex; a word that comes from the Greek word “homos” which means same. Recently, the word homosexual has been replaced by the word “gay.”
A Christian’s view on homosexuality or same sex marriage is derived solely from the Bible. As mentioned in my previous post (Tuesday – with the same title) the Bible is replete with references to and against homosexuality and same sex marriages. And, what I find even more curious than all this Christian banter against same sex marriage is the fact that we also have Christians that are for same sex marriage, even though to be a Christian is to believe in the teachings of the Bible 100%.
How odd or peculiar is it to think that “modern day” Christians now believe that the Bible (like the US Constitution) can and should be interpreted based upon the “changing times.”
Endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights . . . |
Are our decisions to be for or against same sex marriages politically or religiously generated?
And if, they are the latter, then what happened to separation of Church and State?
Should we turn our backs to the Christian Church because of all the pedophile Catholic priests?
Or, should we turn our back on the US Constitution that gives our unalienable right to pursue happiness?
Clearly the political lines on this view
are drawn in the sands of time:

Republican (Christians or not) are against same sex marriage
Democrats (Christian or not) are in favor of same sex marriage
For me, I ask myself this question. Why would the teachings found in the Bible be against homosexuality (both male and female) and against same sex marriage?

I like to question rather than just accept on blind faith, and the only logical deduction I can make has to do with procreation; but, in this day and age, to continue to procreate would create a population that our world could not sustain in all parts of the world; yet, mankind (whether Christian or not) continues to procreate; however, this too is an odd justification for same sex marriage, even I realize that.
No matter on which side of the fence I stand and look over to the other side, both sides are being hypocritical, either to their religious beliefs or to their Constitution, but since most States are leaning towards the position of being against same sex marriages, it would appear that the only recourse for our gay community is to seek out the legal advice of “Ivy League” lawyers and discover ways to circumvent these laws.
However, this may take a while because
we are no closer to legalizing “weed” now
than we were in the 60’s.
