Super PACS are Financial Terrorism
SUPER PAC CONTRIBUTORS - FINANCIAL TERRORISTS click to enlare |

A new Washington Post- ABC News poll shows that almost 7 out of 10 voters believe that super PACs, the independent expenditure only committees created in the wake of the Supreme Court’s disastrous Citizens United decision, should be illegal. Super PACs are not responsible for all problems with American democracy, however, they do amplify those troubles so it is no surprise that the public is crying out in opposition to them. Unfortunately, due to the Court’s backwards interpretation of the first amendment, we cannot legislate away super PACs today. However, there are some very important steps that every level of government – from your city council to the White House - should take right now to mitigate the impact of super PACs before the 2012 election.
Seven of 10 is 70% and a rather respectable majority and yet, who is listening?
The Daily KOS reported last week that the Supreme Court will meet shortly to decide whether or not to hear a case where the Supreme Court of Montano reversed the highest court’s decision to legalize Super PACs but from a State’s perspective. Unfortunately, if the Supreme Court does decide to hear the case, a ruling will not be issued until 2013, after the Presidential election.
SUPER PAC $$$ - both sides |
And, while that is a good step forward, that announcement has little to do with not listening to the people and how Super PACS because of the massive amounts of money involved, is nothing more than financial terrorism. Financial terrorism that has a hidden agenda for America and her citizens.
"It's a great concern," Axelrod (senior strategist for Obama) said in an interview with WJLA ABC 7, a station owned by POLITICO's corporate parent. "People are writing $10 million checks in one fell swoop to these super PACs — in many cases, they're undisclosed."
"Ninety-eight percent of our contributions are under $250," Axelrod said. "The average contribution is around $51."
"It would take 181,000 of our contributions to match one of those anonymous contributions," Axelrod said. "That's just a concern not just for us but for our democracy."
Have we become so self-servingly arrogant that we believe the power and control that wealth provides is ALL for which America stands?
Are 7 of 10 Americans wrong because they do not have money and believe that money should not influence politics?
Is this (below) our future?
Well, if it is maybe that is good news . . .
If our youth (both males and females) ages 18-25, spend money on a Super PAC like they do on CD’s, concerts, drugs and booze, then maybe, just maybe there is hope since most of our youth don’t trust anyone over 30, let alone Republican Big Business men.
