Washington Politics

Pointing the Finger

WASHINGTON — The former leader of a Tea Party group says the Republican Party and stupid statements by some candidates are to blame for the GOP's losses in last month's congressional elections.

Dick Armey, who until recently led the conservative group FreedomWorks, said some GOP candidates said "stupid things" that party leaders should have taught them to avoid saying. He said Republicans had a lot of candidates who did "dumb things" during their campaigns.
Armey, a former Republican House majority leader from Texas, did not specifically mention controversial comments about rape by GOP Senate candidates in Indiana and Missouri that contributed to their defeats in November.

Armey said it is the party's job to support and train candidates.

Armey left FreedomWorks after an internal dispute about the group's direction.

Do we think that this is the real reason why Republicans lost elections?
Hell no!

The Republican Party is simply “out of touch” with the American people.

While there are some Americans who want a balanced Government budget and an end to deficit spending, there are others who want the Government to continue their spending and possibly increase it due to the feeling that the rich should take care of the poor.

While there are many people who believe that small businesses are the backbone of America and should be somewhat “financially pampered,” there are others who believe that these small businesses will continue to survive regardless of what the government does because that is why they started their business in the first place.

While there are some who believe completely in the Free Market Enterprise Systems as the most viable economic system to pursue (including Communist countries), there are others who believe that Keynesian economics is the best solution to protect the middle class against greedy corporate America whose only focus is the “bottom line.”

While there are some who are completely against the outsourcing of American jobs to other parts of the world, there are others who continue to desire a low cost standard of living that outsourcing provides simply because Americans want too much money in wages and benefits.

While there are some who simply believe that the purpose of business is to provide jobs to Americans, there are others who believe that the purpose of business is to make money and to be able to continue to play the game year after year after year.

While there are some who believe that the Republican Party favors business and the wealthy, there are others (whose numbers are greater) who believe that the Democratic Party favors the middle class whose outlay of taxes each year really supports Government expenses.

One thing is for sure and that is America was founded as a Democratic Republic and she no longer fits that title; she is now and will forever be a pure Democracy until a majority of the people vote her into a different direction.

I personally think that it is about time that we stopped pointing fingers and look towards the majority who will soon control our lives whether we like it or not, because we damn sure cannot stop it!
