While this is
not a recent quote and many of you have no doubt heard it before, it bears
merit to repeat it again so that we can, as a republic, hold our elected
officials accountable…
Former President George W. Bush |
What he said
then: President
George W. Bush announced on March 19, 2003, that the war against Iraq had
begun. He said, "My fellow citizens, at this hour, American and coalition
forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free
its people and to defend the world from grave danger."
What he says
now: In
December 2008, just before departing the White House, Bush admitted that
the faulty intelligence leading to the war was his greatest regret. "The
biggest regret of all the presidency has to have been the intelligence failure
in Iraq," Bush told ABC. "" wish the intelligence had been
different, I guess."
Sad phrase for a President to use... "I guess."
