A Wrestler for President

by Laura Heffner

Jesse Ventura for President in 2016?  Seems the former Minnesota Governor could throw his hat (or is a chair?) into the ring for the next presidential election. The ex-Navy serviceman who was a member of the Underwater Demolition team in the Vietnam War and rose to fame in the 1980's as a professional wrestler who could sport colorful boas has made mention of a potential run in 2016.

His credits also include Govenor of Minnesota from 1998 to 2002 as well as Mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota from 1991 to 1995.  He comes out against politicians being more dedicated to their party than the people.  He is always outspoken, not afraid to buck tradition or speak his mind.   In his outspoken way, he has been heard to say that if he were to run for political office in the future, he would not stand with either party.

A website has been set up to encourage Ventura to run in 2016 by his supporters though not endorsed by Ventura himself.  The goal of the website is to get Ventura's name on the ballot for the next presidential race.  This seems indicative that the American people, at least some of them, have become weary and unhappy with the major political parties agendas.

I suppose we at one time elected an actor to this post, why not a wrestler without any party affiliation?  Maybe it is time for a change.
