O b l I v I o u s…
Two days ago, I looked at the headlines, in the hopes of finding something else about which to write as it seems everyone’s attention is on the debate . . .  or, so it seems . . .

Here were the titles I saw:

Note: just in case you did not notice, all of this is less than positive

I also saw this:
A dog looks back at a competitor as it catches a wave during the Surf City Surf Dog contest on Sept. 30 in Huntington Beach, Calif. Forty-six dogs showed off their skills, with extra points awarded for spins or riding backward.

And this:

Before Brad Pitt became famous, he ate Pringles and watched commercials.

And also this:
Nicki and Mariah
 Who’s the biggest drama queen?

And also this:

Sleep tips for those who suffer from COPD…

It really does not make that much difference to me but I am wondering just what the hell Americans find important because all media sources seem to be cluttered with all sorts of useless garbage.

And, of course this:

When I was growing up we had Mr. Potato Head,
now we have ART HEAD...

Perhaps, this is exactly what Americans want, to be oblivious regarding the world around them as long as nothing happens on their street or in their home town.

And yet, being oblivious has gotten us this:
  • A 50% divorce rate even in the Bible Belt
  • Our school system ranked 17th in the world in Math, Science, and English
  • Debt up the wazzoo
  • 15% of Americans below the poverty line
  • The worlds largest purchaser of illegal drugs
  • Unethical people in charge of business, banks, churches, education, real estate, and elected officials

And, guess whose fault it is?

OURS…
