And finding a cure!

Alex and Vic. I have a problem with all this "walking for cancer" stuff. My problem is, in all the years and all the millions of animals that have suffered and died in a quest for a cure, not one cure, for one disease has yet been found. Treatments yes, but primarily because of human guinea pigs. I cant walk for anything, knowing another sentient being has to suffer. It may sound calouse, but I feel that my life is no more important than that of any animal used in research.

I am not sure I see a direct link between people walking to raise money and animals being used for research. There may be some researchers who still do use animals, but that issue has to be worked aside from us wanting and searching for a cure. (Here is a ctl -v):
Too many researchers still stay entrenched in the OLD ways of doing things. They need as much pressure as ever to begin genuine phase-outs of animal experimentation and testing. It’s essential to remember, and to let organizations and government agencies know, that new methods can streamline cancer research, while a reliance on outdated methods hurts people as well as animals.

Dan, the money raised goes where? to researchers! THAT is the direct link

Terry, agreed a direct link between contributors and researchers but NOT necessarily researchers and animal abuse. That was my point. Not always a direct link, and when there is we should do something about the researchers not the contributors.

But we cant do anything about the animal abusing researchers as long as people are walking and raising money and directly contributing to the organizations that fund the researchers!
