I completely understand the frustration of this quote, but let me ask the reader something which is: if you were in a situation of receiving a bonus, would your turn it down, because there are many others out there who have been screwed by the company awarding you the bonus?
One's ethics is not going to pay the bills nor will it offset the toy that you could buy for your grandchildren with the extra money.
