Vic Adamus - my closest and dearest friend since 1955 |
In 1955, Vic and I lived with our families just outside of Alexandria, Virginia in different but close-by communities - the first suburbs in that area - just outside of Washington, DC. Unknown to both of us, we attended the same elementary school (we were both in the 3rd grade) and one day when we were both enjoying recess (at least I was enjoying recess), Vic was being bullied by some of his classmates. When I saw this taking place, I went to defend him and the bullies did not want to "mess" with me because I was considerably bigger than most for my age.
After that brief episode in our lives, Vic and I became friends and while we entered different branches of the military and went to different colleges and moved to different parts of the country, we always stayed in touch and continued our friendship. A few years ago, my wife and I visited Vic and his wife Ann in Florida, and it felt like we were both 19 years old again as we re-visited life in Alexandria in the 60's.
Several months ago, after numerous emails and phone calls and with the technical help of Vic's wife, we started this blog and became blog partners. We entertained the idea that since both of us had survived heart disease and cancer that we could share those feelings as well as other views and opinions with our potential readers and followers. Pageviews and country Flags have steadily increased since we first started giving us both the impression that our postings are well appreciated by viewers all over the world.
For the last couple of weeks, you have read posts that are only coming from me and this is because my dear, dear friend is not doing to well with his on-going treatments for cancer. If you recall his last post, his shared a photograph of how swollen his feet were and how difficult it was for him to move around, let alone sit at a computer desk and type with swollen fingers. Well, this morning, his wife sent me an email that Vic had been hospitalized again because during the night he fell and seriously injured his head.
I will continue to keep the blog up and running, but please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.
