My Brief Opinion: If you want to get rich (or richer) in this country
all you need to do is sell firearms to the general public as our “right to bear
arms” will always be protected by the US Constitution, even though in some
cases, our “right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will be infringed
upon by the 2rd Amendment. But, as the
NRA is fond of saying: “Guns don’t kill
people, people do.”
Of course, that
leaves me wondering what guns actually do and why all the hoopla over owning
one or more… However, until that
Amendment is appealed, we as Americans must protect and defend our
Constitutional rights even if our son and daughters are killed in the process.
Ducks
Unlimited (DU) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and
associated upland habitats for waterfowl, other wildlife, and people. It had
roughly 597,000 members as of January 2012.
Ducks
Unlimited was incorporated by Joseph Knapp, E. H. Low and Robert Winthrop on
January 29, 1937, in Washington, D.C., as a result of their concerns
(and those of other sportsmen) about the loss of wetlands as
habitat for waterfowl and the impact this would have on waterfowl
hunting.
Ducks
Unlimited, in keeping with its founders' intentions, also promotes the
continuation of safe and regulated waterfowl hunting. The majority of DU's
financial contributors and members are waterfowl hunters, and over 90% of those
who read DU's
magazine are hunters.
The DU magazine contains many historical and
practical articles on waterfowl hunting, and it obtains revenue from
advertisements of waterfowling equipment such as shotguns, ammunition, decoys,
and bird calls.
Speaking of bird calls…
These branded weapons feature a waterfowl pattern camouflage design, even though not all of the guns are intended for duck hunting, according to CNN Money.
Sticking to the show's conservative mantra, the words "Faith. Family. Ducks." are etched in to the sides of the guns.
“The Robertson’s widespread appeal and ability to cross over into the mainstream has bridged millions to the traditions of hunting and sharing time in the field with family,” said Mossberg's CEO Iver Mossberg, said in a press release.
Duck Dynasty's star Phil Robertson has been the subject of public scrutiny after making some controversial anti-gay comments to GQ magazine. A&E suspended Robertson from the show, only to reinstate him weeks later.
"Where there's design, there's a designer. We were designed to kill ducks," Robertson says. "You know what makes me happy, ladies and gentlemen?" Robertson muses. "To blow a mallard drake's head smooth off."
