A Limited Time Offer

Americans have been and continue to be acclimated to offers that only have a limited duration of time for acceptance which typically happens when being offered a “plea deal” rather than going into a courtroom with a jury where the charge will be more severe to justify spending the Government's money which is, in essence, tax payer's money because of the annual contribution most of them make to the General Fund of that particular Treasury.

Limited Time Offers can and still do pertain and apply to most Retail Sales (regardless of goods or services offered) that one can imagine save for the sale of illegal drugs and porn; although, in special cases, some drug dealers have “special and limited time offers,” available for the novice user or for the beginner to get them “hooked.”

I would also suspect (although this is really more sheer speculation than anything else) that marriage offers can and have been construed as Limited Time Offers because when the on being asked says “NO,” then the person who is doing the asking moves down their short list to the next person... and, some might even start a new list altogether depending upon one's mental state when dealing with the rejection.

CAUTION: Rebound Limited Time Offers and never wise but we must also imagine the acknowledgment that they also happen frequently...

While some Americans and most certainly some American Manufacturers like and actually “thrive” on “going to war,”  We must face the fact that the last time Americans actually fought to protect their own land(s) was during the CIVIL WAR... all other wars since then have taken place on “foreign soil.” And, each time that we (our American Leaders) offer to help another country with their internal conflicts or outside the country invasions, it is entirely predicated upon the fact that our offer comes with a “Limited Time Offer” that is, inevitably, contingent upon something else taking place first.

CAVEAT: From 1865 until 1891 or a mere 26 years, the US Army had many confrontations with Native Americans which I am embarrassed to say took place because we (America) wanted their land(s) even though they were here first. Native Americans were no match for the US Army who had “long rifles,” and “Gatling” guns and were literally destroyed because they would not accept our Linited Time Offer.

I mean... when one pauses and reflects upon this list of wars in which the USA has been involved since our our Civil War, it is a frigging impressive list... is it not?

It has been 150 years since our Civil War ended and with this list of 33 wars, then we are averaging getting ourselves involved in a war about every 4.5 years or about the length of one Presidential Term...

I am reminded of the Vietnam Song sung by Country Joe and the Fish at WOODSTOCK where they talk about being the first one on your block to have your son come home in a box... Lyrics are below...

Well come on all of you big strong men, Uncle Sam needs your help again,
he got himself in a terrible jam, way down yonder in Vietnam,
put down your books and pick up a gun, we're gunna have a whole lotta fun.

CHORUS
and its 1,2,3 what are we fightin for?
don't ask me i don't give a dam, the next stop is Vietnam,
and its 5,6,7 open up the pearly gates.
Well there aint no time to wonder why...
WHOPEE we're all gunna die.

Now come on wall street don't be slow, why man this's war a-go-go,
there's plenty good money to be made, supplyin' the army with the tools of the trade,
just hope and pray that when they drop the bomb, they drop it on the Vietcong.

CHORUS
now come on generals lets move fast, your big chance is here at last.
nite you go out and get those reds cuz the only good commie is one thats dead,
you know that peace can only be won, when you blow em all to kingdom come.
CHORUS
(spoken)- listen people i dont know you expect to ever stop the war if you cant sing any better than that... theres about 300,000 of you fuc_ers out there.. i want you to start singing..

CHORUS
now come on mothers throughout the land, pack your boys off to vietnam,
come on fathers don't hesitate, send your sons off before its too late,
be the first one on your block, to have your boy come home in a box

What really amazes me is how Americans still wonder why the rest of the world hates us and thinks or perceives that we (America) are trying to force our way of life on them.... because in our arrogance we (Americans) know (not think or perceive) that our way of life is better then their way of life.

Even our life here on on earth comes with a Limited Time Offer, if you think about it... and, if we want to continue living then we have no choice but to accept that offer; however, the way we party and go to war, sometimes I wonder if this Limited Time Offer may soon be taken away from us... and offered to someone who values life more than we do.

The point here is that Limited Time Offers ALWAYS come with strings attached... otherwise, they would not be limited... now would they?
