Now this is an interesting and hot
topic to say the least and is on the minds and tongues of all
political pundits and radio talk show hosts; so, terrorism (to say
the least) is receiving a lot of free advertising in the public and
social median forums.
I have recently heard some retired
Generals advocating “nuking the bastards” and putting boots on
the ground to “kick ass” with all the military might that we have
at our disposal and simply ignore the political fallout for taking
such action from our allies as well as our enemies like Russian and
China. Of course, if we “nuke the bastards” then it would seem
rather ridiculous as opposed to redundant to put boots on the ground
and “kick ass” as well... might not be too much left to kick
around.
I have also recently heard some retired
Generals express concern for all the lives lost as a result of
military aggressions and that military conflicts and engagements with
these people is not the answer; instead, we should strive to change
their attitudes and not just among these terrorists but among the
politicians and people in those countries who harbor and support them
and if this is done, then terrorism will just fade away and
dissipate.
And then, there are those who advocate
that we just simply do nothing from the standpoint of “live and let
live” and whatever happens is God's Will, so we should just go
about our business by minding our own business.
As a side note, the Greek economy is
about to fail and the Eurozone and the European Union is about the
experience another financial crisis which is predicted by analysts to
be more severe than the one before and there are many US Billionaires
who are warning of another Wall Street financial meltdown and that
this one will be more severe than the one we experienced in 2008.
If this financial prediction proves to
be true, then all global economies will be more financially impacted
by this than the terrorists groups that are currently operating
across the globe, so this begs the question: where is the US going
to get the money to fight this war? ISIS for example is generating
about $3 million each day from their criminal activities such as
blackmailing, smuggling, bribery, and drugs... and these funds are
also supplemented from the sale of oil.
But, changing the mindset of terrorists
and those that financially support and harbor them within their
countries will not be easy and damn near impossible, I would say, if
not completely impossible but there is always a positive outcome for
which to hope.
The reason is that this is going to be
difficult, I would like to use the US as an example and the fact that
we have been trying to change the mindset of Americans regarding
gender equality and racism since 1950 or 65 years and virtually
nothing has changed except for what might be written down on paper;
but when data is collected, analyzed, and distributed... ON PAPER
it would appear that the US has done one hell of a good job
eliminating gender inequality and racism... but, if you talk to the
people in the middle class and below, they see very little
improvement in either category.
So, if we cannot change the attitudes,
opinions, preconceived ideas, and behaviors of our own citizens after
65 years, how much of an impact do you think we will have on
terrorists and their supporters?
My guess would be: NOT MUCH!
We cannot destroy them
We cannot brainwash them
We cannot defeat them
We can waste money bombing them
We can waste more money sending over
military advisers that they ignore
We can watch the residents of Iraq and
Syria refuse to fight the terrorists
We can talk about solutions with
authority on newscasts
But, there ain't much more we can do
until their bring their HOLY WAR onto US soil and then I think the
full force of American might will set about to obliterate them...
and, once this deed is done, we will still have to answer to Russia
and China, maybe Great Britain, and for sure the rest of the Arab
World and be held accountable for our un American, non-diplomatic
actions.
And, by this point-in-time who do you
think in American will really care, except for a few liberal minded
college professors?
Global Terrorism is not just the
business of the US helping out weaker and poorer countries, it is the
business of the entire world, all the countries that live and exist
in this world because terrorism is a collective plague that will
eventually seek out everyone in its path. The only awareness that
these people have in their minds is kill or be killed for the
faith... and, that is not stopped easily, and it can only be
stopped with an equal amount of force being exerted around in 360
degrees where the circle tightens until there is nothing left inside
or until those inside decide to negotiate or compromise or accept a
“live and let live” philosophy.
In all great conflicts that involved
extreme differences of opinions, this was the only solution that ever
seemed to worked and can be somewhat related to the parting and the
closing of the Red Sea when Moses lead the Jewish Nation out of
bondage in Egypt. The Egyptians would have never have stopped their
pursuit unless something like that happened.
Terrorists, just like American
Terrorists during our war of Independence will use every means
(legal, moral, ethical) at their disposal to defeat a superior force.
And, you will not find that logic in any War College Training
Manual, as it is desperate actions perpetrated by desperate people,
both males and females.
Southern Soldiers (Rebels) were hidden
in the homes of families who were sympathetic to the Southern Cause
in America... just like what is happening in those areas where ISIS
lives and operates. Sometimes, these hiding places are willingly
offered and sometimes not... but, in all war situations, desperate
measures are always undertaken.
And, human beings despite their
religious affiliations will do whatever they deem is necessary for
them to survive.
WWI and WWII were collective efforts
and it took time, money, and lost lives, but the world joined forces
and defeated the evil forces to the point that they agreed to
compromise and co-exist... and, I would suspect that the same
situation must happen here, today, and soon.
