America – Where are you now? Five Points to Freedom...


Point 1 -  On June 27, 2002, the New York Times published http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/27/opinion/one-nation-under-god.html  that “one nation under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance violates our First Amendment rights.


Point 2 -  On November 14, 2003, Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was removed from office for defy a court order to remove The Ten Commandments from the State’s Supreme Court Building.  http://articles.cnn.com/2003-11-13/justice/moore.tencommandments_1_ethics-panel-state-supreme-court-building-ethics-charges?_s=PM:LAW. 


Point 3 - Sometime prior to July 4, 1776, Thomas Jefferson drafted The Declaration of Independence, http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/document/,  which clearly depicts us (United States of America) as a God-based, religious based country, as stated in the following excerpt:  We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”


Point 4 - On September 17, 1787, The US Constitution was adopted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution  with the following preamble:   We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
                                                                                                                            
I t would seem like to this writer, that there is a strong connection between Point 3 and Point 4, where our Creator endowed us with an unalienable right referred to as “Liberty” that is again mention in our Constitution as “secure the blessings of liberty,” thereby establishing us as a “Nation under God.”  If we are, in fact, a Nation under God, why is there a Point 1 and 2 here?


Point 5 -  On July 4, 1884, during the Presidency of James Polk, the cornerstone for the Washington Monument was laid and 25 years later in 1888, it was capped and completed and on the cap is the following inscription, “Laus Deo, http://www.gospelroadministries.org/WashingtonMonument.html, which in Latin means “Praise Be To God.”  In light of this new awareness and especially because of Points 1 and 2, this writer believes that the Washington Monument should be demolished, because it is in violation of our First Amendment rights and a large metallic dollar sign be constructed in its place to symbolize the true “nature” of this country.  Surely, we can raise some Corporate money to hire an artist to design and build this or do you think it should be covered by our public treasury?

I'm confused about the use of God. Who's God? A Pagan God maybe? Iffen it was written that far back in early American history. I'm still with the guy who said "give me liberty or give me death" hello Patrick.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are gifts given to us by our Creator and even Patrick Henry knew that... Liberty is freedom or so "they" say but are we really free? Article coming soon...

"Creator" is subjective as far as I'm concerned. I dont believe anything that promotes any religion be allowed to be displayed in tax payer funded venues. Nor do I believe the word "god' should be in the pledge of allegience. I have a "creator" she is not the same one most people assume are theirs! Nor is she a "god"

Yes, render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and render unto God that which is God's.

Separation of Church and State is what we are all about...

Our First Amendment Freedom allows us to voice our opinions in terms of what we believe or do not believe.

God or Creator or the Big Tuna or whatever one wants to refer to that entity as, is fine with me, but my logical concerns are that, having the belief that life just happened, especially with all its complexities seems illogical.

Our fore fathers came here and established a Government that maintained separation of Church and State, but they were still grounded in their faith and belief in a God, even though our mothers gave birth to us.

And therein lies at least one rub, most of the founders were diests, they did not believe in organized religion. And as such, who is to say what they meant by "god?" What is illogical about evolution?

Nothing is illogical about evolution actually and mankind is evolving as we speak, getting taller and taller. But, the question that neither source can answer is who or how did it all start? In fact, who created God? And, for evolution, who created the first matter? And, a new question, why is the universe still expanding and into what is it expanding?

I dont believe there is a god of anykind. totally manufactured to whip humans into submission! therefore there is no "who" created god
