I still can’t figure out Mitt Romney’s strategists.  People around him who are suppose to cover his back and make sure he is set up to take on a moderate tone for getting the independent vote which we all know is what pulls the winner over the line in a Presidential Election.  No.  Mitt’s strategist won’t let go of Donald Trump and his birther movement even though the people who believe these lies are of low intelligent, largely white supremacists, and living in the 19^th Century with 19^th Century ideas.  Crackpots, all of them.  And to celebrate Romney reaching the magic number which puts him over the top for his party’s nomination, he hangs out with Trump and the crackpot crowd in Las Vegas rather than having an historic moment in Texas, the state that handed him the nomination.

In PR we call it trying desperately to hang onto your base.  If that is true, then Romney has accepted the fact that the fringe group of white racists is the Republican base.  Even at risking the opinion of 75% of Americans, both Republican and Democrat, who see these birthers as fools, he would rather be with them than voters who have an IQ.  It makes Romney look like his entire audience going forward is made up of morons.  This could be the reason he loses the election and ends up blaming it on the media.

But what is the media suppose to do when Donald Trump, that “bloviating ignoramus,” has taken away your stage?  When the guy runs a fund raiser like a circus barker?  It must have been embarrassing for the silver spoon guy who never associates with anyone who makes less than a million dollars a year.  Now he is forced to embrace white people who use the President’s birth to hide their racism.  White supremacists have never wanted a black person in the White House. 

Poor strategy for sure.  How is Romney going to distance himself from this toxic, totally unpopular, idiotic conspiracy theorists if he has any chance at all to win the election?  Well he started with passing out a fake birth certificate of himself at the rally.  Wanting his white racists friends to know he was born in America.  Of course the fonts used on the certificate had not been invented yet in 1947.  And his middle name is not Mitt, it’s Milton, but it may have also been passed around as a joke.  Is Mitt Romney a joke?  The birth certificate says his father was born in Mexico.  Now isn’t that convenient?  It suggests to many that Mitt might have a little Hispanic blood in his veins.  But that would make for another story.

No, his strategists, same ones who worked for George Bush, blew it.  They will be in the recovery mode all summer and Romney will have to disavow, on stage when he gives his acceptance speech, that there’s no room in the party for racism . . . wink, wink.

Buffet Rule Dies in Senate

Last night the Senate filibuster voted down the “Buffet Rule” giving it no chance to become a law that would level the playing field on wealthy income earners making more than a million dollars a year and force them to pay their fair share of taxes.  A whopping 72% of the American electorate polled in favor of the rule, 51 Senators ignored their constituents and voted it down.  Is this the way Democracy works?  No.  It only proves again, and again, that in this U.S. Congress Democracy is dead. 

Two weeks ago a bill supported by 74% of Americans to close oil tax loopholes failed, shocking the public who called and wrote their representatives and again the majority of Americans lost out to big oil interests.  Then there’s the insult of paying more at the pump.  But the Buffet Rule was out there to level the playing field between the rich and the middle class.  The middle class lost last night and so did the U.S. Constitution.  The majority voice was swept under the rug in favor of the 1%, the people who pay billions in Super Pac money to get these fools re-elected.  They are like a puppet on a string to Wall Street investors.  The few now control the Congress.  The majority is out.

The only solution, if there is one, is for the middle class voters to come together in November and vote out anyone who is currently running for re-election.  Hopefully they will be replaced by noble people who are not in the pockets of big business and labor.  Hopefully President Obama will win re-election and have a democratically elected Congress with a mix of independents who ran and won against big wealthy Wall Streeters who are holding back the progress this nation sorely needs.

Getting rid of Republicans who took an oath never to raise taxes on the wealthy, signed a Grover Norquist pledge, a little toad faced man who has no job other than controlling the votes in Congress, would be a giant step for the middle class to end this brown shirt way of running the government.

The Revolution is at hand.  People who Occupy better get the message now.  We need a totally new Congress and one that is not tainted by big business, the wealthy, Wall Street and Labor.  The middle class can’t be saved without new blood representing their interests in the U.S. Congress.

I’m taking the side of Hilary Rosen, a DNC organizer, who called out Ann Romney as Mitt’s choice of advisor for women’s groups because what she said was true, “Romney never worked a day in her life”.  Granted, raising five boys full time, six if you include Mitt, is hard work.  But it was a choice Ann Romney could make because her husband was in that one percent of households who didn’t have to survive on a second income.

What Rosen was saying is a person raised in luxury has to have a hard time relating to the Moms out there in the 95% group that stretch a pay check through the weekend or worry about their job security.  Living pay check to pay check was never a concern to Ann Romney.  If she wanted to gas up the Cadillac to take the kids somewhere, she did.  Buying clothes, taking vacations, getting the boys special tutors for home study, she just wrote a check.  So Rosen is correct in saying what she said.  Ann Romney is not a likely choice as advisor to her husband, a potential Presidential candidate who needs the women vote to win the election.

The war on this issue is between parties.  Anything to distract from criticle issues that the public wants both sides to weigh in on.  The economy is a good example.  But all week this media frenzy over Ann Romney shows voters that more nit picking is yet to come.  Any little tweet will cause the real issues to derail while America listens to talking heads, talking trash, and losing their focus on the debate of issues so criticle to our nation in these times of a recession recovery. 

It’s a slow recovery too.  So yes, women’s issues will be on the table with everything else.  And it wasn’t the Democrats who passed legislation to attack women’s health in 21 states this year.  It was Republican legislators.  It wasn’t the Democrats who introduced the Ryan Plan that essentially kills Planned Parenthood and Food Stamps which some women depend on desparately.  There is a war on women but the one percent do not feel it.

Obama leads the woman vote by 19 percentage points.  This could grow as state legislators alienate women, reduce them to second class citizens, and threaten their voting rights.  These are issues that upset women but I have never heard Romney address these concerns.  He only went on record saying if he’s President, he would do away with Planned Parenthood. 

Those are fighting words for women.  And if Ann Romney wants to act as an advisor she should get on the stick and tell her husband this is a war he can lose by supporting legislation amending what women had won over 20 years ago. 

I doubt she will do that because her head is up there in the one percent lifestyle.  When you have everything you want and need, it’s hard to walk in the shoes of others who are less fortunate.

THE R-MONEY MAN NEVER CALLED

It’s been a week and no calls from the R-Money camp.  I guess they weren’t interested in my idea for Romney to Save America and win the Presidency.  His Buy Out buddies would have made a profit, to boot.  Last I heard he was in a panic to win his home state.  Without it, he basically shows up at the dance in Tampa an empty suit.  It’s headed that way, thanks to Rick Sanatorium, whose wise cracks and lack of morals is appealing to the grass roots Tea Party.  You could say by looking at the voter turnout that the Tea Party is the only group turning out to vote so shall choose the next Republican Candidate in Tampa.  Sanatorium is soaking them for what their worth.  Not much.

Still on the Clown Car

A few of you wrote that I should have given the idea to the Obama Campaign.  In crisis communications the success of any PR campaign is unique to a person’s history.  In this case, Romney has a history of working the streets of New York with the cutthroats, sharks and people who would shoot their Mothers for the gold in her teeth.  That’s a far cry from Obama.  Yes, he may have a few rich friends.  But his friends, other than George Soros, could or would write checks for $500 billion dollars and not miss it?  I seriously doubt it.  Obama knocking on a Goldman Sachs office would be like Newt Gingrich asking a blessing from the Pope.  Humorous at best but not a workable solution to winning the Presidency.

So I officially give up working for Mitt Romney.  I shall return to my roots and support Barack Obama on the State level and see if I can make a difference here.  His campaign is already responding to the gaffes of the front runners in the Republican Clown Car.  They are watching the Party at work to disenfranchise every female voter and Latino.  You might say the Republicans are successfully proving why they should never gain the White House or the Congress ever again.  The hard core element is still locked in the 18^th Century philosophies when most Americans, even the poor, have iPhones.

News travels fast.  The anti-Union Governors in the Midwest states will hand the presidency to Obama; the Taliban legislation on women being forced by big government in Virginia to get painful probing tests prior to having an abortion will be signed by that nit wit Governor and the lawsuits will take up the rest of the campaign there when jobs are more important.  So all over America, blue collar and white collar, male and female, will feel the strong arm of government dictating workers’ rights.  And these voters will respond at the ballot box come November.

My advice for Obama?  Keep killing off their social issues like the poster shows below.  Negotiate with the Saudi’s to flood the market with barrels of oil and stabilize gas prices at the pump.  Do that through the summer and you’re in.

SENATOR ORRIN HATCH, a Mormon Bishop, 78, blasted President Obama on the floor of the Senate for remarks the President made at the National Prayer Breakfast.  During the speech the President quoted from the Bible “for unto whom much is given, much shall be required” which also has the same values for Islamic and Jewish faiths.

Hatch told Senate members, “Someone needs to remind the President that there was only one person who walked on water and he did not occupy the Oval Office."  He said, "I think most Americans would agree that the Gospels are concerned with weightier matters than effective tax rates."

What a small minded prick.  Did Hatch ever in his Godly ways blast any other president, going back to Saint Ronnie, from quoting from the Bible?  No.  Then why this President?  Could it be because Obama is black?  It’s an election year?  Or was he just babbling to his vicious and insidious, racist Republican base?

I don’t think I will ever find the answer. One answer for sure, Republicans are bent on dividing this nation. 

Here’s more of what the President said:

Just to put this in a sort of perspective, the teachings of Jesus are open to all Christians, not just the Republican Party who needs religion more than any other sector of our population, in my opinion.  Hatch bears witness to this when he strikes out against a person, any person, who calls on the almighty for help.  But . . . Hatch is obviously losing it.  He should do us all a favor and retire after his term expires.

Crimes: Born with money and without decency, young Norquist got into politics as a Nixon campaign volunteer, and his filthy mitts have been picking the pockets of the poor and working class ever since. A coauthor of Gingrich’s Contract With America, and integral in designing the Bush tax cuts, Norquist is best known for his anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform — a member of the Koch-backed American Legislative Exchange Council (which crafts corporate-friendly legislation for state reps to pass off as their own). Professor John Pitney expends a lot of words in explaining why Gingrich would lose to Obama if they held a bunch of Lincoln-Douglas style debates. Some of his reasoning is simply argumentative or purely speculative, and most of it is beside the point. In any such series of debates, Obama would clearly be cast in the character of Honest Abe, while the Georgian congressman and disgraced former Speaker of the House would be cast as Douglas. That would be the same Douglas who said this during the first Lincoln-Douglas debate:

I ask you, are you in favor of conferring upon the negro the rights and privileges of citizenship? ("No, no.") Do you desire to strike out of our State Constitution that clause which keeps slaves and free negroes out of the State, and allow the free negroes to flow in, ("never,") and cover your prairies with black settlements? Do you desire to turn this beautiful State into a free negro colony, ("no, no,") in order that when Missouri abolishes slavery she can send one hundred thousand emancipated slaves into Illinois, to become citizens and voters, on an equality with yourselves? ("Never," "no.") If you desire negro citizenship, if you desire to allow them to come into the State and settle with the white man, if you desire them to vote on an equality with yourselves, and to make them eligible to office, to serve on juries, and to adjudge your rights, then support Mr. Lincoln and the Black Republican party, who are in favor of the citizenship of the negro. Gingrich's rhetoric is somewhat updated. He talks about food stamps instead of sitting on juries, for example. He talks about the government being made on the Christian, rather than white, basis. Meanwhile, his opponent would actually be a negro.

MITTENS TAKES IOWA BY 8 VOTES

Not What I Would Call a Landslide

For a guy who couldn’t keep his hands off the ladies, Herman Cain literally helped the Man with the Money, win the Iowa caucus by 8 votes.  After women threw Cain under the bus, there was no 9-9-9 to rally behind and things tightened up on the campaign trail giving a boost to everyone including Mittens who ended up with the trophy.  It’s a sad comment on America when a guy who loves ladies gets pounded for doing nothing wrong but chasing candy.

But enough about the only person who stimulated a rather dull six months of campaign gibberish.  Romney had a pittance invested in this rivalry, nearly $3.5 Million for attack ads against Newt Gingrich so one could say those 8 votes cost him $430,000 each.  Was it worth it?  Well for those of you who think Mittens can beat Obama in the General Election I suppose it was a good investment.  But the middle of the electorate doesn’t agree. 

Mittens has a history of being a Buy Out King with Bane Capitol and those hedge fund operators who buy out companies, fire the employees, then hire them back at half pay with no benefits is the big reason Romney lost to Ted Kennedy in his bid for the Senate in Massachusetts.  Add to the fact he is a Mormon and you do not have the mix that makes for a victory in November for the Presidential Election especially against Barack Obama who is doing as good a job as President as anyone could compared to the long list of Republican hopefuls.

Top three candidates now moving to New Hampshire:  Romney who hates the middle class and loves the tricksters on Wall Street; Rick Santorum whose luggage includes being thrown out of the Senate by voters in Pistolvania; and Ron Paul who wishes for America total isolationism including rolling back the 1964 Civil Rights Act. 

Which one would you vote for?

A wise man or woman, if there was one, would hand the torch to Mittens and be done with all these stupid caucuses.  Get it done, once and for all.  Instead, hopefuls will march through five more states to split hairs on how to attack Iran and when.  Some will say without inspectors mirroring the biggest failure in Presidential history; others will say “get those B2’s ready to roll"; and still, maybe one, will say we can’t afford another war.

Not much of a choice going forward.  But alas, this is A-Merry-can politics.  And with the close vote in Iowa only one person, Rick Perry, will be smart enough to hang up his guns and go home.  Although as I write this, Michele Bachman has suspended her campaign.

Another one of my Rants in 2000 words or less

I am not doctoral degree in anything and yet a local liberal arts college with regional accreditation from SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) has ruled that my Master’s degree and 38 years of experience in Management is a viable substitute.  From the get go, let me also point out that I have never received a 6 figure salary either individually or with a combined family income.  Additionally, I too lost 2/3 of my savings that was invested in mutual funds during the severe decline of the stock market a few years ago.  With that said, let me point out too that I live in a State with no income tax but that has a high sales tax and is, on average, about 12-15% cheaper to live that most other States, making the total cost-of-living savings (not including sales tax) about 20-21%.

My opinions are not based upon some expert economist, political pundit, PhD educator, or successful investor but a synthesis of what I have read, taught, and experienced.  For instance one of my beliefs is that American economists are basing their recommendations on what is best for the US and not based upon America’s interrelationships in the global marketplace which to me is an incredible oversight because as China and India grow their Middle Class economies, their increase in demand will cause a global shortage, especially in clothes, plastics, and electronics; our economic policies must be macro (global) in nature not micro (US in nature only).

Another shortfall of forecasting insights from these “so called” experts is the fact that technological growth is almost exponential (doubling) enveloping the entire global marketplace and the fields of study that support this growth are:  math, science, engineering, statistics, and technology; and yet, where is all the “hoopla” with pushing the nation into this direction?   It would seem like to me that if our experts were really doing their job, then, these fields would have been addressed years ago in a similar way that President Kennedy and his experts pushed America’s direction into space.

But, the thrust of this posting is not space or education per se, as much as it is directed towards, what do we do now and do we believe the experts who are prediction another great depression similar to and perhaps greater than the depression of the 1920’s.  So, will this become a self-fulfilling prophecy for America or an opportunity to show the global marketplace America’s resolve, determination, and greatness?  I personally believe that the latter will take place.

We and my fellow protesters of the 60’s found out that protesting did little more than tarnish our resumes; so, while I have empathy and support for the protesters, their efforts are futile and like Abby Hoffman said, if you want change get into the system and change it from within; of course this is not an exact quote, I do not believe but pretty damn close.  Even though the protesting has grown and involved numerous cities across the country, it will not be successful and not because there is no unifying theme other than being unemployed but because change in our country does not come from protesting or from an attempt to overthrow the governments as has recently happened in other countries.

Simply put, once the governments (local and national) have had enough, these governments will not just call upon local and state police but upon the National Guard and other branches of the military (if need be) to restore the peace.
