Where Have We Heard That Before?

So yesterday a trailer on CNN says Fox News has learned that before the mass murder in Aurora, Colorado the killer, James Holmes, mailed a package to a professor at the University where he was attending grad school speculating it could contain a disclosure of his plan to kill people at a local theater.  Even though the FBI did, in fact, pick up a package they had no comment and the University had no comment.  It was a mystery that suggested this person, who could have received the package, would have learned before the murders and mayhem that a student had plans to open fire at a local movie theater and prevented it.  It even caught the attention of Diane Sawyers on the nightly news which added some validity to the report.  ABC got sucked into the vacuum.

The story Fox put forth was that a student who worked in the mailroom said there was a package addressed to a professor with a return address from James Holmes.  Then speculation that if the professor had received the package the shootings could have been avoided.  Like Holmes was crying out for help or responding to a nervous breakdown.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

This morning we learn from Fox News:

They said Wednesday the package, reportedly containing a notebook “full of details about how he was going to kill people,” was delivered to the campus Monday, July 23.

Reports say the notebook was sent to a psychiatrist.

Fuzzy reporting at its’ worst.  One day a professor could have saved 12 lives; next day he couldn’t.  Fact is the notebook in the package was useless information since it was delivered after the mass murders.  And the mailroom clerk who Fox News said told them it had been sitting there for “a couple of weeks” generated speculation that the local officials could have jumped in and stopped the shootings.  Now we learn that wasn’t even a possibility.  The arrival date was after the killings.  The package was delivered to campus the Monday after the Thursday night massacre.

Fox News, the propaganda arm for the Republican Party, should stick to twisting stories about favorite politicians and get out of the real news business.  They’ve misled TV viewers before and this is just another example.  I think they are an organization that just push crap down the news line regardless of whether the facts are confirmed or not.  Real tabloid news.  But this example is one that also serves notice to the public at large.  The desperate need for more news surrounding a tragedy is just another way of a Fox News to incite the masses with their false journalism.

Sadly, I know people who say they only watch Fox News.

How Does This Guy Find the Money?

(CNN) -- George Zimmerman was released from jail on Friday, one day after a Florida judge set bail at $1 million.

Judge Kenneth R. Lester Jr. found that Zimmerman's deceit over cash holdings at his first bond hearing in April was not enough to hold him without bail. However, he also said he believed the suspect may have been planning to flee the country to avoid prosecution in the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman had to post 10% of the $1 million -- or $100,000 -- to meet the requirement for release.

He wore a white dress shirt under a gray suit as he walked out of jail and into a waiting SUV.

DOES FRANCE HAVE A GOOD IDEA?

A new law has gone into effect in France requiring every driver to carry two breathalyzer devices in their vehicle at all times. The government is hoping to reduce the number of deaths related to drunk driving by encouraging drivers to test themselves if they think they’ve had too much to drink.

The new law, which applies to tourists as well as residents of France, started on July 1, though there will reportedly be a four month grace period in order to further educate drivers. As of November 1, police will fine drivers 11 euros if a vehicle isn’t equipped with the devices.

In France, the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration (BAC) while driving is 50 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, or 0.05. In Canada, the limit is 0.08, though that number can change depending on the province and the age of the driver. In Ontario for instance, all drivers 21 years of age and under must have zero blood alcohol content at all times when operating a vehicle.

The Daily Mail says two types of breathalyzer kits have been approved for use in vehicles. One is a “blow-in-the-bag” kit that costs about three euros, while a digital version costs upward of 100 euros.

Asians are fastly adding to our population.

Asians have surpassed Hispanics as the largest wave of new immigrants to the United States, pushing the population of Asian descent to a record 18.2 million and helping to make Asians the fastest-growing racial group in the country, according to a study released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.

While Asian immigration has increased slightly in recent years, the shift in ranking is largely attributable to the sharp decline in Hispanic immigration, the study said.

About 430,000 Asians — or 36 percent of all new immigrants, legal and illegal — moved to the United States in 2010, compared with 370,000 Hispanics, or 31 percent of all new arrivals, the study said. Just three years earlier, the ratio was reversed: about 390,000 Asians immigrated in 2007, compared with 540,000 Hispanics.

“Asians have become the largest stream of new immigrants to the U.S. — and, thus, the latest leading actors in this great American drama” of immigration, Paul Taylor, executive vice president of the Pew Research Center, wrote in the report.

Never once did I interrupt a president in any way while he was making a formal statement, a speech, honoring awardees or in any other way holding the floor. Yes, almost always when he was finished in the Rose Garden or in the Briefing Room or at a photo opportunity with other world leaders I tried to question him (only rarely was it a shout on the rope line, more often a more normal tone of voice) and other reporters of course did the same thing along with me.
What this man did yesterday is something new, to me wrong and unusual. I think it is probably the result of the growing incivility of the times, the competition among reporters and news organizations to be noticed not only for the work product but for the theatrics of the gathering…and there is one more factor, let’s face it: Many on the political right believe this president ought not to be there – they oppose him not for his polices and political view but for who he is, an African American! These people and perhaps even certain news organizations (certainly the right wing talkers like Limbaugh) encourage disrespect for this president. That is both regrettable and adds, in this case, to the general dislike of the press on the part of the general public.
For Tucker Carlson to say that he would if he can give this man a raise for this rude attempt to interrupt the president is reflective of what I’ve said above and, to me, lowers my opinion of Tucker.

WIFE OF KILLER LIED ABOUT THE MONEY

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman, now being held without bond on second-degree murder charges in the slaying of Trayvon Martin in February, has been arrested and charged on one count of perjury.

She is accused of having lied in a bond hearing for her husband, claiming that the family had little money and that bail should be set low. It was. But it was revoked when it became known that the Zimmermans had access to at least $200,000 raised on a website.

My gut feeling is that most career criminals would, if they got free, eventually commit more crimes. Morris was certainly smart enough to figure that out, I don't know about the Anglin brothers.

Still, imagine if, a few years from now, an elderly man who is dying tells his doctor to have the cops run his prints after he dies, and it turns out to be one of the three escapees from the Rock. Most people would probably cheer for him, including cops.

When it comes to committing violent crime, psychopaths may not be bad to the bone, but a new brain study suggests they may lack key neural structures—literally less gray matter—involved in empathy, moral reasoning, and feelings of guilt.

And that gives grounds for optimism about the potential to rehabilitate nonpsychopathic offenders, according to a British neuroscientist who studies the brains of the violent.

Those neural deficiencies seem to set psychopaths’ brains apart from the brains of other violent offenders without psychopathic traits, says Dr. Nigel Blackwood. The King’s College, London researcher led a study on violent offenders published in the Archives of General Psychiatry.
“The headline for me would be that we should be more hopeful about the treatability of [nonpsychopaths] than perhaps we are,” he says. “Lumping them all together with the psychopathic group and being therapeutically pessimistic about them isn’t justified.”

A gay lovers betrayal ended up in murder with the murderer sending the body parts of one Jun Lin to political parties in Canada.  This is the type of murder that doesn’t happen every day.  He then boarded a plane to France with the idea of losing his identity over a six month period.  He lasted two weeks.  This is a truly grisly story.  He was apprehended in Berlin.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, a porn film star 29, had discovered his lover had another male lover and decided death was the only way to deal with his rejection.  A psycho for sure, investigators digging into his past believe he got most of his information on killing from a serial killer he also dated for a time, also in Canada.  Why this is important is because it clocks in as one of the most unusual cannibalistic killings in decades.  He’s the same person who posted a video online as to how to suffocate, kill, kittens.  Now if  that hadn’t tipped someone off as to this guy’s mental disorder consider the fact that on two other blogs he posted his murder of Lin complete with cutting up the body parts.  Canadian police believe the videos to be authentic.

Why this is worthy of a mention on this blog is the simple fact that I remembered a book I read in college, many years ago, which stated a theory that the beast chromosome shows up periodically in modern man ever since history had recorded humans building civilizations. Now I wonder if the author is still alive and I wonder, if he is, what he thinks about the  gene showing up again in our modern world, this time in Canada.  Not that the country has anything to do with it but the thought this gene is explosive and somehow gets into the human body every decade or so is rather scary.  I know movies have been made of serial killers with the same trait, usually pleading insanity in court which is widely believable when a psycho goes off and acts like a cave man.  But you would wish or wonder yourself why science hasn’t been able to test kids, early on, for that gene that depicts weird thoughts or behaviors that can be handled in a child’s early stages of development.

Somebody missed this guy as he fell through the cracks during early life and his true violent behavior struck out at a person he loved, not just killing his victim, but broadcasting the event by sending the body parts to select political parties in Ottawa. 

It may make for an interesting murder mystery to some but it’s clear science has a long way to go to detect early on the gene that causes this behavior and find a way to suppress it.

CNN -- A Florida judge revoked bond Friday for George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Seminole County Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. ordered Zimmerman to surrender to the county sheriff within 48 hours.

Lester accused Zimmerman of having misrepresented how much money he had when his bond was originally set in April.

The decision came after prosecutors asked Lester to revoke the bond.

Prosecutors argued that Zimmerman "misrepresented, misled and deceived the court" during the April bond hearing not only about his family's financial circumstances but also about whether he had a U.S. passport.

This is meant to be Travyon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old shot to death in February in Sanford, Florida. The unidentified internet merchant told Mike DeForest, a reporter for Orlando television station WKMG, that he sold out the silhouettes in two days. The targets come in packages of 10.

The twisted cretin who had these printed said: "My main motivation was to make money off the controversy." Just business, man. Nothing personal.

Even Mark O'Mara, the attorney for George Zimmerman, the 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer who has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting, found it disgusting:

20th Anniversary of LA Riots

Rodney King with his Anniversary book The Riot Within.  He told Laurence O'Donnell on the Last Word that he was lucky that someone took a video and sad that the same did not happen to Trayvon Martin.  Since the beating, the acquittal of those that almost killed him, the LA riots which followed, he says he has had a good life in the U.S.  He also won a civil judgement against the city of LA for close to $4 million.  Now he has a book deal. 

BISHOP CALLS THE PRESIDENT HITLER

Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria fell from grace and ignored all of the Jesus teachings by comparing President Barack Obama to Stalin and Hitler.  His hatemongering may get him into deep shit with the Vatican.  He told his congregation:

“Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care. In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, President Obama — with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path.”

Here’s a guy who says he follows the path of Jesus.  Well good luck with that.  It all started when the Obama Administration issued a statement requiring all church affiliates to pay for contraception for women regardless of their faith.

Jenky went a little nutsy when he heard that Catholic women use birth control to plan their biological cycle to include having only babies they can afford. 

Jenky is so out of touch with mainstream America and his own Catholic faith that the Anti-Defamation League has demanded he apologize to President Obama.  No word yet whether he will or not.

Rocker, Hillbilly, woman hater and Dumb Ass Ted Nugent gets a visit from the Secret Service today for threatening the life of Barack Obama and others as he wants to “chop their heads off in November” if Obama wins re-election.  He said, “I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year”.

Nugent is definitely Terrorist Watch material.  What’s funny is the Romney camp is scratching to distance themselves from the rocker who they invited to an NRA meeting consisting of the usual dumb ass members who support street violence.

Nugent said he’ll cooperate, like he has a choice.  The Secret Service has to check out anyone who threatens the President as to their intent. 

He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals," according to CNN.

He’ll probably admit to being a “blow hard” to escape any tracking the Secret Service would normally do during an election year.  But who knows.  If I were the Secret Service I’d make sure the asshole isn’t in any State the president is in for planned speaking engagements or campaigning.  The Romney camp, if they had any balls, should come down hard on Nugent.  But don’t hold your breath.

No thinking American wants to live in a police state.  They also don’t want to live in a community where access to guns by people with mental problems, depression, anxiety, and day to day stress cause these people to take the law into their own hands and shoot unsuspecting citizens like what happened to Trayvon Martin or even worse the multiple deaths in Arizona which included gunning down a Congresswoman Gabby Gifford.  But Americans have never drawn the line on the 2nd Amendment.  They have tried with the Brady Law 1994, but still access to small arms and guns with extended clips holding up to 33 bullets is still available to the general public.  So is the assault rifle the AK-47.  The Brady Law, signed by President Bill Clinton establishes a background check from FBI files so guns are not sold to felons and people who have been restricted by the courts to own guns.

It does very little to weed out the person who has mental health problems.  Coupled with the sad fact that unchecked sales are now competing with drug cartels, illegal weapons being sold here in the U.S. to anyone who shows up at a gun show, and the limits on the 2nd Amendment become a big joke.  The primary argument against gun control is “that a 100 pound woman is on equal footing with a 220 pound mugger”.  The gun has leveled the playing field.  And in most cases a person carrying a gun has the advantage of force and doesn’t have to listen to reason.

Now we have the Castle doctrine and Stand Your Ground Laws in 25 states.  The doctrine was meant to protect people in their own homes from an intruder who would likely cause them bodily harm.  Known also as the “Make My Day” law from a Clint Eastwood movie some of these laws have been tested outside the home to include armed citizens carrying their licensed guns into the public square.  These laws have doubled the amount of deaths since becoming law in 2004 and beyond and statistic show that under simple protections offered by the States before these laws were passed, more people were convicted of a homicide then when these laws took effect. 

But after the law was passed in Florida the death rate increased and convictions of  homicides decreased:

The figure above shows that, on average, Florida experienced about 34 justifiable homicides per year for a total of 206 deaths in 6 years. In the after period, the annual death rate was about 85, which means that for the first four years, 333 justifiable killings were recorded  Even without using sophisticated analysis, there's a clear pattern that emerges from the raw data alone: there is an obvious increase in the number of deaths after 2005.

The laws were lobbied by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Koch Brothers back American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), both groups who claim to advise corporations on legislation that would benefit them.  They have the control of Republican legislators and often write the bills the representatives introduce.  ALEC has been losing members since the death of Trayvon Martin due to the outcry of that senseless violence and the fact that the shooter wasn’t arrested on the night of the murder.  For a list of corporations who pulled out of ALEC go HERE.

The special prosecutor charged George Zimmerman a.k.a "the Killerman" with 2nd degree murder this past week.  He was arrested and held at the Seminole County Jail.


Sanford, Florida (CNN) -- George Zimmerman's newly hired attorney told CNN's "AC360" on Friday that he didn't initially seek bond for his client because he first needed more time to become familiar with the case.

Mark O'Mara took on the case Wednesday, the same day Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, was charged with second-degree murder in the February 26 shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford.

A bond hearing has been tentatively scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. April 20, O'Mara said.

"I think he's stressed. He's certainly nervous," O'Mara said of Zimmerman. "He is frustrated he was charged at all."

On Thursday, a Seminole County judge found probable cause to move forward with the case and set a May 29 arraignment.

Sanford's pastors, meanwhile, stepped forward to urge reconciliation.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R), the longtime government worker and in some circles "distinguished" gray hair put out a tweet calling President Barack Obama "stupid".  This is coming from a person who has spent 52 years, almost all his life, sucking on the taxpayer's tit.  Grassley at 79 is an embarrassment to his party and voters he represents in Iowa.  His dementia is showing and like most of his elder colleagues, Orrin Hatch included, their time has come to step aside. 

Grassley plans to die with his boots on but Iowans aren't so sure the old coot has enough gray matter to make it through another term in office.  He would be better off tending to his farming hobbies, puttering in a flower bed, or giving an occasional lecture on exotic birds.
